Speedo Conversions
We can offer a MPH speedometer conversion for any vehicle from any market. We can also remove the speed limiter on any Japanese import car. We can supply both electronic and mechanical converters that can convert a KPH speedometer into MPH, and also make the odometer run in miles.
Rear Fog Lamps
Most non-European imported vehicles are not fitted with a rear fog light, which is a UK legal requirement. There are numerous options available for fitment to your vehicle, including flush bumper, slim-line, cluster, hang on and reverse light conversions. For IVA approval, either an approved light or factory replacement lenses need to be fitted, and there are fairly strict guidelines that need to be met regarding positioning. The rules for MOT compliance are less strict, so we do offer additional conversions for vehicles not requiring a IVA test. All of our fog light products carry full IVA approval, and we also stock a large range of universal switches for any car, many that do not require the cutting of interior trims. We can either supply only by mail order, or supply and fit in our workshop.
Radio Converters
The frequency range agreed internationally for FM broadcasting includes 88-108 MHz and is used in virtually all countries including the UK & USA. However Japan is an exception as they use the frequency range 76-90 MHz which is lower and narrower than the international range.
Used cars imported from Japan are usually fitted with a Japanese specification radio which, without modification, only receives BBC Radio 2 in the UK. A common and inexpensive solution has been to fit a "band expander" in the aerial lead to allow more stations to be received.
This is a much cheaper option than changing the radio (many of the radios fitted in Japan are very expensive units and are worth keeping and some are an integral part of the dashboard and therefore hard to replace). Please note that radio expanders will not change the LCD displayed output on your car radio.
Fuel Neck Restrictors
All petrol - engined vehicles registered after 1st August 1995, and most registered from 1st August 1992 require a restricted fuel filler neck of 26.3mm. We stock a large range of custom fit and universal fuel neck restrictors to suit all vehicles. They are all IVA compliant, and are either made of durable plastic, or zinc plated steel. We can either supply only by mail order, or supply and fit in our workshop.
